Building Depot
Curaçao's largest home improvement retailer — building materials, hardware, tools, appliances, furniture and kitchens — with a 19,000 m² Mega Store in Zeelandia and a store in Bonaire.
About
Building Depot is the home improvement store with the widest assortment in Curaçao. Its roots go back to 1977, when founder Rodney Lucia (1949–2008) established Curacao Wire Products; the company grew into hardware and building materials, added household goods in 2002, furniture through a partnership with Leen Bakker in 2003, and kitchens in 2018 in affiliation with Keuken Depot of the Netherlands.
After a major fire destroyed its retail complex in May 2013, the company rebuilt and opened its 19,000 m² Mega Store at Erieweg, Zeelandia, in November 2014. Today Building Depot Trading operates two stores (Curaçao and a 3,000 m² store in Bonaire), two warehouses, a drive-through, a delivery service and a webshop, serving professionals and households with building materials, hardware, power tools, appliances, bathroom fixtures, indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting and décor, supported by a Builders Card programme and financing options.
With a team of more than 160 people, Building Depot is one of the island's larger private employers and a portfolio company of the Curaçao Growth Fund.
