About
The Curaçao Film Office (CFO) is the island's first film commission. It was installed in July 2017 by the Ministry of Economic Development and joined the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) in November 2017. The office sits within the Ministry's Sector Economic Development and Innovation and is run by Certified Film Commissioner Eloise van Wickeren.
Under the banner "Shoot your film in a Caribbean paradise", the CFO guides local and international productions through filming in Curaçao: film and drone permits, a location gallery for scouting, a production directory of experienced local crew — from location scouts to art directors — practical information on entering and working on the island, and the upcoming all-spend tax incentive for film and TV.
By positioning Curaçao as a film destination, the Film Office supports the creative industries — one of the priority sectors of the National Export Strategy — and brings production spend, jobs and international visibility to the island.
Mission
To develop Curaçao as an attractive, well-organised film destination by making it easy for local and international productions to shoot on the island, and to grow the island's audiovisual and creative industries.
Role in the Innovation Hub
The Curaçao Film Office is a resident of the Curaçao Innovation Hub, operating from office 1.02 at Villa Maria, bringing the creative and audiovisual sector into the Hub's daily life. From the Hub, it connects filmmakers, creators and producers with the innovation network, co-hosts creative-industry sessions and strengthens the link between the Ministry of Economic Development and the Hub's programmes.
